NEPA
NEPA stands for Northeast Pennsylvania of course. And that's how the news, radio, and paper refers to us. We are cool. We are cooler than the rest of Pennsylvania. How could we not be? We have PA polka live every Friday night in the Cultural Center. We have the Italian Festival. We have "falling rock" signs on the roads. We have perogies. We say, "How ya doin'?"
My husband and I are slowly becoming a part of NEPA. This last week we got our driver's licenses, registration, and our cars inspected. Apparently, NEPA is so cool that each year the cars must pass an inspection. Needless to say, the cars passed after some minor repairs. (My husband no longer has to manually click the Lumina blinker. The inspector wouldn't take the promise that we would always click the blinker ourselves.)
So now that our cars are offically NEPA residents, my husband and I are working on the same. We are still trying to get to know people in the seminary, church, and community. I am doing my part by trying to get out as much as I can :) I have been atteding a Mommy and Me exercise class and taking T-man to the Children's Library (Yes folks, it is an entire library dedicated to children's literature. They even have story time for T-man's age group!) I am starting to get to know some women through those activities. Friend Day at church is the first Sunday of April, so I hope to have a friend by then :)
In the church situation, we enjoy our Sunday School class. It is a great group of young families. They get together weekly for Bible Study or fellowship. We are enjoying that immensly. One thing we are struggling with is an area to serve. This church, being so close to a Bible college and seminary, doesn't seem to have openings to serve. It is an interesting and rare problem to have! My husband and I are praying the Lord would provide and area for us or show us what we need to do. There are some church plants that the seminary works with that we are praying about as well.
My husband is immersed in the world of Brown. He is done with training and worked the "line" all week. He came home cold and sore, but he thinks it will get easier the more he does it and it has to warm up eventually.
This past weekend it felt like winter. I guess it was a good think because the Ice Festival was this past weekend. Beautiful ice sculptures were all over town. Isn't NEPA cool?

NEPA is cool, but not even close to the coolness of PSU. Come on, we have a Bug Fair, Arts Fest, Football, and much more!
Yes, NEPA is cool. PSU is much cooler. We have a Bug Fair, an Arts Fest as well as being the craziest football town in the world. You know you're jealous!
